Forests, Range & Watershed Management Organization (FRWO) and General Directorate of Forestry of Turkey (Orman Genel Müdürlüğü/ OGM) arranged a meeting on the Turkey's experience in fighting cadastrophic forest fires and international cooperation in fighting with forest fires. The webinar was held on December 7th, 2021 Tuesday at 09:30 Ankara local time (10:00 - Tehran local time) via video conference.

In this Webinar, OGM's managers and experts delivered 3 presentations about their capacities and existing know-how to fight wildfires. From Iranian side, around 200 people across the country from FRWO headquarters at Tehran to provincial and township offices of Natural Resources and Watershed management attended the meetings. Since FRWO attaches importance to training of firefighting trainers, so in addition to FRWO experts, some people from NGOs and CBOs who are actively involved with the fires, attended the webinar. 

After 3 presentations were delivered by Turkish experts, some questions in the area of applied technologies, policies and strategies, rules and regulations were raised from Iranian participants and answered by their Turkish colleagues.

In part of OGM's officials’ speech, they also mentioned about their plan for formation of the Eurasian Fire Fighting Union with the membership of neighboring countries due to the built international capacity for firefighting. 

At the end of the meeting, two sides showed their willingness to expand their cooperation in the area of fire fighting and invited for field visits and face to face trainings.

Noteworthy, some Memorandums of Understanding have been signed between the two countries in the past years.
